This is a collection of major AI datacenter installations. Unlike those paywalled lists maintained by analysts and the sort, I do not include rumors or conjectures (because they’re often wrong). I do my best to back up every fact with a reputable source so that nobody can accuse me of leaking any information that isn’t public.

Abilene, TX (Oracle, Crusoe)

Abilene is the site of a significant deployment for the Stargate Project.1

Denton, TX (CoreWeave, Core Scientific)

Core Scientific is developing a datacenter in Denton, TX on 78.85 acres2 that is near the Denton Energy Center, a 225 MW gas-fired power plant.3 The site’s total power will be 394 MW2 and is being developed at a cost of up to $6.1 billion.2

At least 70 MW of this capacity is being leased to CoreWeave.4

The Denton Energy Center uses simple cycle reciprocating engines3 rather than gas turbines because it was designed to be a load-following, not baseload, power plant. As a result, it has lower efficiency and higher emissions than a combined cycle plant.

Franklin Farms, LA (Meta)

Franklin Farms is a 1,400-acre site in Holly Ridge, Louisiana on which Meta will be building a $10 billion, 1.5 GW data center complex. It will be the size of “a significant part of Manhattan.”5

Meta is partnering with Entergy6 to install two natural gas-fired combined cycle turbines at the site, providing a total of 1.5 GW of power7 three natural gas-fired power plants, providing a total of 2.3 GW of power, at a cost of $3.2 billion, by 2028.8 Meta has pledged to match this with 1.5 GW of “100% clean and renewable energy” in the form of carbon credits.6

Lighthouse (OpenAI)

Lighthouse is an AI datacenter being built by OCI, OpenAI, and Vantage in Port Washington, Wisconsin as part of Stargate. It is scheduled to be completed in 2028 and is being backed by a $15B investment by Silver Lake and DigitalBridge.9

Memphis, TN (xAI)

xAI’s Colossus supercomputer is housed at a former appliance factory at 3231 Paul R. Lowry Road. It is colocated with a 1.1 GW combined cycle gas power plant and has approval for 150 MW of power. See Facility for more information.

Mount Pleasant, WI (Microsoft)

See Mount Pleasant.

New Carlisle, ID (AWS)

New Carlisle, Indiana is the site of a 1,200-acre, 2.2 GW AI facility being constructed for Anthropic by AWS as part of Rainier. It can be viewed on Google Maps.

It is natural gas-fired and support 30 separate datacenters.10 Photos of it have been released by AWS.11

West Des Moines, IA (Microsoft)

See Iowa Supercomputer (2022-2023) for now.
